Process mapping

Before implementing Odoo, a map of your processes that your team signs.

I interview the people who do the work, draw how it runs today, mark where time and money leak out, and show how each process looks in Odoo. What comes out is a document your team approves before a single screen is configured: what gets implemented is what was signed.

Three processes for USD 1,100 in two weeks, fixed price.

01

What you get

A map of how it runs today

One lane per role, and each step with who does it, with which tool, and how long they wait. What people describe in the interview, drawn so they recognise it.

Pain points with evidence

Double entry, verbal approvals, controls that arrive too late, reconciliation by hand. Each one marked on the step where it happens.

How it looks in Odoo

The same process, step by step, with the app that covers it. It says what is Odoo standard, what is configuration and what would be development.

Gaps and decisions

Where Odoo does things differently from how you do them today, and the decision taken in each case: adopt the standard, configure, develop, or leave out.

A sign-off sheet per process

One page the process owner signs. That is the scope of the implementation: what is not on the sheet is not built without a new one.

PDF and a navigable version

The diagrams as a PDF to sign, and an on-screen version you keep and can go on editing afterwards.

Processes tell you what the company does. If you also need to see which systems hold it up and what is going to be built, the next step is the architecture map, with C4 and ArchiMate.

Sample

Three processes of a fictional distributor, drawn with the full method: first how it runs today, then how it looks in Odoo. No data comes from a client. Your company gets the same, with its own processes, roles and decisions.

How to read it: each row is a role, each box a step. The exclamation mark flags a pain point, the diamond a decision, and the label under a box the Odoo app the step lives in.

How it runs today. Five pain points: the order is typed twice, the credit limit is known hours later, and payment is matched by hand.

How it looks in Odoo. The limit is checked on confirmation, the e-invoice comes out of the delivery, and payment is matched against the bank statement.

How it runs today. Verbal approvals, receipts nobody checks against the order, and a supplier invoice that is typed in and paid before the paperwork exists.

How it looks in Odoo. Approval by amount with a record of it, receipt checked against the order, invoice loaded from its XML, and a three-way match before paying.

How it runs today. Statements in spreadsheets, reconciliation line by line, withholdings on a side sheet, and figures three weeks late.

How it looks in Odoo. The statement is imported, rules match most of it, withholdings are computed on each invoice, and the figures come out on the second day of the month.

03

Price by number of processes

A single payment: half to start and half when the sheets are signed. Includes remote interviews, two rounds of review per process, and a closing session with the leadership team.

USD 1,100

Three processes

Two weeks. To start where it hurts most: usually order to cash, procure to pay and the monthly close.

USD 1,700

Five processes

Three weeks. The three above plus inventory and the process that is particular to the business: production, service or distribution.

USD 2,600

Eight processes

Five weeks. The full mapping of a mid-sized company before an end-to-end implementation.

If you go on to contract the implementation with me, the mapping is credited against it. More than eight processes, or several companies, are quoted individually. Full refund of the deposit within fourteen days and before the first delivery, under the refund policy.

Frequently asked

What is process mapping?

It is the record of how each process in the company runs today: who does each step, with which tool, and how long they wait; where time and money leak out; and how that same process would look in a system like Odoo. It ends in a sheet the owner signs, and that sheet defines the scope of the implementation.

What does it cost and how long does it take?

A fixed price by number of processes: three processes USD 1,100 in two weeks, five USD 1,700 in three weeks, eight USD 2,600 in five weeks. Half to start and half when the sheets are signed.

Do I need Odoo to ask for it?

No. The map of how it runs today works with any system, or none. The proposal of how it looks in Odoo is one of the outputs; the signed sheet lets you ask any vendor for a quote.
