Ultimate Guide to Google Ads: I built the campaign with the book open
Andrés Briñez

It is a manual, not a book of ideas. I read it while building the campaign, and nearly every screen of the setup wizard had a paragraph that matched it.

What I did with it

Google Search only — no search partners, no Display. The platform ticks those boxes for you, and the book is blunt: a beginner cannot read results from three networks mixed together, because there is no way to tell which one worked.

No broad match. Thirteen keywords, all phrase or exact, and a negative list written before anything was switched on. Broad match on a small budget spends the money on near-misses that are not my searches.

The budget is set at the campaign, not the ad group, and the trigger for raising it is not spend but profitability: if it is not making money, a bigger budget only loses faster.

One honest caveat: the campaign is days old, not months. I do not yet have enough data to claim that anything works, and the book insists on precisely that — do not decide on twenty clicks.

What I left out

Automated bidding and A/B tests with statistical significance. Both need volume that five dollars a day does not produce. The book holds them back for later, and that is where they stay.
